1. Who I am

I am the data controller for information you send me. I am not a limited company. Enquiries and bookings are made with me personally as a sole trader.

2. Data I collect

• Name, email address, and phone number
• Preferred walk, date, party size, and any message you include
• Basic technical data from your browser where needed to run the site securely

3. How I use your data

I use your information to reply to enquiries, arrange walks, send confirmations, and keep basic records for my self-employed accounts. I do not sell your data.

• Contract / steps prior to contract — to respond to a booking request
• Legitimate interests — to run and improve this website safely
• Legal obligation — where tax or accounting rules require retention

5. Sharing

I may share details with payment providers or transport partners only where needed to deliver a booked walk. I do not pass your information to marketing lists.

6. Retention

Enquiry messages are usually kept for up to 24 months. Booking and invoice records may be kept for up to six years to meet self-assessment and accounting duties.

These Terms govern enquiries and bookings for guided walks offered by Oliver James Whitaker trading as Whitaker Heritage Walks. By submitting the booking form or confirming a walk, you agree to these Terms.

1. Who you are booking with

Your contract is with me personally as a sole trader. I am personally responsible for delivering the guided walk described in your confirmation.

2. Enquiries and confirmation

Submitting the website form is a request, not a confirmed booking. A walk is confirmed only when I reply in writing (usually by email) with the date, meeting point, price, and group size agreed.

3. Payment

Prices are quoted in GBP. Payment instructions are sent with the confirmation. Places are held once payment or a deposit (if requested) is received, unless we agree otherwise in writing.

4. Cancellations

• Cancel 72 hours or more before the start time for a full refund of amounts paid to me
• Cancel within 72 hours and fees may be retained to cover preparation and diary blocking
• If I cancel due to illness, severe weather, or force majeure, you will receive a full refund or a free rebooking

5. Your responsibilities

Arrive on time at the meeting point, wear suitable footwear and clothing, and follow reasonable safety guidance during the walk. Late arrival may mean the walk proceeds without a refund.

6. Liability

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by my negligence, or any liability that cannot be limited under English law. Subject to that, I am not responsible for losses that are not reasonably foreseeable, or for travel delays outside my control. My total liability for a booking is limited to the amount you paid me for that walk.

7. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live.
